Imagine Conferences Realligned…

What if the ICANN Seoul conference wasn’t scheduled at the same exact time as the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference? What if it wasn’t scheduled in a remote place such as Seoul? If instead the ICANN conference was conveniently located in New York without a major domain event conflict, perhaps many more domainers would show up and pressure ICANN for a speedy and transparent .IDN process.
Perhaps more domain investors would see that the introduction of gTLDs affects the IDN space more than any other.
Was this scheduling conflict conspiratorial? I don’t think so, but it is ignorant of ICANN to proceed with such a conflict– and as a result the domaining community’s response to the .IDN rollout has been somewhat muted.

You Know You Are A Domainer When . . .
ICANN posts its meeting dates several years in advance. Maybe domainers should check these dates first. Maybe it shows the priority of domainers, and they aren’t really interested in ICANN issues.
David, nice comment and unfortunately that is too true that many domainers do not pay much attention to ICANN.
Ideally, it would also be nice if ICANN (or TRAFFIC) pushed its conference back a week so domainers could attend both conferences.
