Monetizing IDNs

Parking companies don’t seem to know what to do with IDNs. Parking payouts are inconsistent. Seemingly at random, some IDNs earn $2.00 a click while others earn only a few cents for hundreds of clicks. Unfortunately, the latter is more common. What is going on?
Comfort Paying Online
Internet users in many countries still haven’t reached a comfort level with making online payments. For instance, China is well known for being an all cash economy (see NYT article here). Chinese Internet users aren’t comfortable buying online, and therefore foreign online merchants aren’t as willing to pay as much for ads, since leads don’t result in conversions. As a result, parking revenues for IDNs can be minimal.
Click Fraud
Russia and China are known for massive click fraud. Some parking companies avoid these international markets altogether rather than deal with the monitoring and risks of click fraud.
Long Term
In the long term, Internet users will grow more comfortable paying online and the payouts will justify trying to police the foreign click fraud sharks. Until then, this current lack of parking profitability depresses the prices of IDNs and creates an opportunity for those with a long term perspective.

Domain Parking is just plain wrong. You shouldn’t be doing it, period. It is effectively a form of squatting on domains that other people might actually want to use, and it shouldn’t be permitted.
Squatting is when you are using someone else’s property, such as when you unlawfully register a trademarked domain. This is unquestionably wrong.
Why is parking in general wrong if you own a generic non-trademarked name, like Eggs(.)com? Parking is just allowing relevant advertisers to use your space. Parking can actually add value by directing a consumer to a reputable, targeted vendor.
@alastair- waiting for a response.
alastair was a drive-by. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a response.
Many PPC “focus” affiliate networks are staring to get on the “International Offer” bandwagon. You need a developed site to capitalize fully, but it does give you another option. Granted right now its usually offers for “ringtones, dating,….ect” (:
Parking is nice and easy
