Finally. Sam Nunez, the VP of Product Management at Sedo just announced that “Sedo will add support for Chinese, Japanese and other ‘multi-byte’ characters [for] IDNs starting next week.”
This was just posted as a comment to our IDN series on Elliot’s Blog (link here). Thanks for all who made this happen — to Elliot for graciously hosting the IDN guest posts, the comments that showed Sedo the demand for IDN support, and of course kudos to Sam and the team at Sedo for moving forward with this.
Sedo’s embrace of IDNs should add liquidity and ultimately value to the IDN market.
*Update: Also IDNDemystified wrote a nice post on the topic here

Keep in mind that Sedo was founded in Germany. They have had great success in that grassroots market. The marketplace in Japan is just not there yet unfortunately.. ;-(
Until Sedo gains a foothold in Japan……
How about Thai? Top Thai names sell for thousands ….
Encouraging but I won’t be jumping up and down yet, they need to get a lot of things right and the lack of support in the past and the number of useless/worthless “IDN” that have been for sale there needs to be addressed.

@Lee – I’m also wondering about Thai and IDNs other than Chinese and Japanese. Hopefully they will be supported soon too.
We need domain conferences in Tokyo and for Sedo to have a full marketing campaign there.
We need to see more of these domains in ads
